Report of seminar on Strategic Facility Management

in China

   

With the support of the Professional Services Assistance Scheme (PSDAS), CIT Bureau, HKSAR Government, the last professional seminar on Strategic Facility Management Services in China has been successfully held on 24 September 2005 at the City University of Hong Kong  by the Hong Kong Institute of Facility Management (HKIFM) with the theme of "Strategic Facility Management in China"

 

The HKIFM is very honored to have 3 keynote speakers to share their variable experiences on Strategic Facility Management in China.  More than a hundred of delegates from various professional service sectors such as building and construction, surveying, government-related bodies, real estate services, engineering services and architecture & landscape architecture participated in this seminar.

Session 1 - Facility Management in China -

Current State and Future Direction

Mr. YU Qingxin

Beijing Chamber of Commerce for Property Management

 

Mr. Yu has been practicing in the field of property management since 1992 and is the first member of the Asian Facility Association in China.  He is currently Chairman and Executive Director of Beijing Chamber of Commerce for Property Management.  Mr. Yu also holds the post of Managing Director of 北京均豪物業管理有限責任公司 and vice chairmanship of two other property management associations.  He has also been teaching as a guest lecturer at Tsinghua University.

Before Mr. Lee became the General Manager of BJPM in 2002, he was the Technical Manager of the PCCW Facilities Management in overall charge of the technical support team for the entire PCCW-HKT portfolio.  He managed a team of professional engineers in the fields of air conditioning, electrical, fire services, lifts, building fabric, energy management, building automation, and security systems.  He also has a significant role in the safety management of a large building portfolio.

Mr. Billy Chau has more than 30 years practical managerial experience in the property management industry, including 10 years in Mainland China.  He joined the Savills Group in 1995 as a Senior Manager with his main focus on the developing property management market in Mainland China.  Mr. Chau is currently the Managing Director who is responsible for the company's overall property services business.  He is also director of 7 China-based joint venture companies, Executive Committee of the Beijing Chamber of Property Management Company and invited speakers in a number of universities in Beijing.
