Two Classes of Membership
- Corporate (with voting right)
- Non-corporate (without voting right)
Corporate: Founding Member
Corporate: Fellow (F.PFM)
- Persons holding senior positions
- At least 28 years old
- Being PFM (Members) of HKIFM for at least 7 years
- Applicants must be nominated by at least two (2) F.PFM
- Application must be accompanied with a supporting letter from the principal proposer
- In addition, the applicant must also submit a written submission detailing his/her contributions, achievements and vision in the practice and advancement in the field of FM. This may include participation in statutory Working Groups or consultative committees, membership in various committees of other professional institutes and other professional development activities. The written submission should also elaborate the applicant’s experience on the core competence as indicated in the application from and his/her vision on promotion and development in the field of FM
- Satisfy the Committee in areas of FM-related experience and other requirements
Corporate: Member (PFM)
- At least 21 years old
- Holders of a FM-related degree recognized by the HKIFM with extensive experience on FM and having passed the APC or other assessments as prescribed by the HKIFM; or
Practitioners having at least 12 years of experience on FM with attainment of a high level of competence not less than that of a member and currently holding a senior executive position and having passed an interview; or
Corporate Members of recognized professional institutions with at least 2 years' extensive post-qualification experience on FM
- Minimum 1-year relevant experience in Hong Kong
- Applicants must be nominated by at least one (1) F.PFM and two (2) PFM
- Submission of a written account on experience with relevance on FM
- Satisfy the Committee in areas of FM-related experience and other requirements
Non-corporate: Honorary Fellow (Hon.PFM)
- Persons holding senior positions
- Persons who have significant contributions to the field of FM as recognised and approved by the Council
- By invitation
Non-corporate: Associate (AHKIFM)
Practitioners having recognized academic qualification(s) and/or FM-related experience may apply for Associate. Designation for this class of membership is 'AHKIFM'.
Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) is normally held annually or on need basis, to assess the professional competence of Associate, before they are admitted as Member of the Institute.
There are three (3) number of grades under this class of membership, namely Grade 1, Grade 2 and Grade 3, in accordance with individual's compliance with the HKIFM's Core Competency.
The purpose of the above-mentioned grading is to facilitate individual member's grade advancement. There are specific qualifications for each grade of Associate Membership. Individual members can apply for grade advancement once these qualifications are fulfilled.
Non-corporate: Student
Current students of formal academic program/course in FM may apply for the class of Student. An official endorsement from the college/education institute must be enclosed with the application.
Retired Member
Fellow, Member or Associate aged 60 or above, may apply to the Council for subscription fee exemption.
The Council reserves the right to amend the terms for subscription fee exemption from time to time as deemed necessary.
